Today, Year 4 started their new Literacy genre of Classical Poetry. We are going to read a selection of poems from Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot.
We started by listening to The Naming of Cats. We found out that cats have three different names. The first is the one the family use daily, a sensible everyday name. The next is a name that’s particular and more dignified. The last is one that no human can discover and the cat will never confess.
We made cat badges, putting the first two names on the front and the secret name on the back.
This new genre is going to provide the children with lots of performance and drama activities. Watch out for more photos showing what we have learnt.
