Year Two are learning all about puppets. First we explored different types of puppets using books, pictures and the real thing before having a go at making our own finger puppets.
We had to make a template by drawing around three fingers and adding some detail like a unicorn horn or pointy ears. We also decorated our templates with a face even though we know we don't really need this detail on a template! Next came the tricky bit - attaching the template to felt with a sharp pin. We then used special fabric pens to draw around our templates before cutting out the two sides. After a lot of discussion we decided to stick around the edges with glue being careful to leave room for our fingers. Our final task was to add detail to our puppets. Some of us used pens for this and some of us used bits of scrap felt.
What do you think? Do you like our finger puppets?
