We have been learning about religion in Britain during Anglo-Saxon times.
First of all we learnt about different gods from the Anglo-Saxon pagan beliefs. We then acted out the story of how Christianity came to Britain from missionaries from both Ireland and Rome.
We found out that it was a time of great change in people’s beliefs.
Finally we looked at the evidence that exists for religious belief from Anglo-Saxon times. There are lots of different historical sources such as manuscripts, writing from The Venerable Bede and artefacts. There are even Anglo-Saxon building remains near us at Heysham and at the Priory. Many of us had seen and touched these and not even realised that they were Anglo-Saxon!
