Year 6 were extremely fortunate with the weather today for their geography field trip to the Lake District.

We set off early in the morning and headed for Ambleside, where we walked up to Todd Crag. At the top we had a spectacular view of Windermere and the surrounding fells. We orientated our maps and drew field sketches, as well as being treated to a fly-past of several jet planes and helicopters overhead!

Next we travelled to Waterhead to catch the ferry to Wray Castle, where we had our lunch before some of us went for a walk through the woods and along the lake shore. Some of us chose to explore insode the castle to look at an exhibition about the history of mountaineering.  The sun continued to shine as we got back on the ferry to travel to Brockhole Lake District National Park Visitor Centre. We sat on the open top deck, taking in the views of the fells, wildlife and people using the lake for recreation. After a short talk about why people might visit the Lake District, we enjoyed the facilities, including the adventure playground, before returning to school on the coach.
