In their final week at Scotforth, Year 6 have taken part in a First Aid Course designed by the Red cross, specifically for primary age children. They looked at what to do if they came across someone who had a suspected broken bone, was bleeding heavily, had banged their head, had a burn, was choking or having an asthma attack. We then practised what to do if we came across somebody who was unconscious whether breathing or not breathing. We emphasised the importance every time of assessing the situation first and looking out for their own safety as well as getting adult help and when to call 999. The children then got another chance to show off  their acting skills as we used role play to assess what they had remembered. All who took part did very well and earned their certificates.
