Printing

This afternoon, we started our printing topic in Art. We looked at artwork by William Morris, Richard Shimmel and Lisa Stubbs. We then used carbon paper to print pictures we had drawn onto our paper in repeating patterns.

Eva Rothschild

Today, we began learning about the artist Eva Rothschild and her sculpture work. We used art straws to make our own sculptures in a similar style.

Maiden Castle Mystery

This afternoon, Year 3 were trying to solve the Maiden Castle mystery. 52 bodies were found at Maiden Castle which was an Iron Age settlement. The children had to study clues as to how they died - Romans or another tribe. They came up with really good theories based on the evidence.

Sandwich making

Today, we started making our sandwiches. We have tried to create a balanced, healthy sandwich and we have tried to make them look fun and interesting for younger children.

Stone Age outdoor learning

Today was our schools outdoor learning day. We told stories in the same way as Stone Age people might have done using pictures on stones. We then got to make our own.

Egyptian Day

Today, we had an Ancient Egyptian Day in Year 3. There were gods, goddesses and pharaohs in the classroom! We learned about hieroglyphics and write messages and made a clay tile with our name on it (written in hieroglyphics of course!). We did some Egyptian maths too! We had a mummy making contest…
