We had a lots of fun today using different instruments to create our own Samba Bamba band and we certainly got into the groove dancing to the music.

Traditional dances in Lancashire
Today, we have been learning about our local heritage. Mikey and Jenny came in to school to talk to us about different traditional dances in Lancashire. We had a go at dancing the jig, the reel, the horn pipe, the waltz and marching. It was so much fun!

Today we have been learning to dance to traditional Lancashire music played on a fiddle.
Australia Day
We looked at many different Australian artefacts e.g. boomerangs, different types of Australian animals and the didgeridoo! We listened to the different sounds made.
Y1 Making Music
We discussed rhythm and the pulse of the music. We enjoyed using and naming all of the instruments and finding out the different sounds we could make.
Music in the sunshine!
Year 2 have enjoyed playing musical instruments outside this afternoon. We followed a beat and each group played a different pattern of sounds on a selection of instruments.
Music Festival
What a fantastic evening we all had at the music festival. Year 4 sang beautifully and represented Scotforth well. We are so proud of you all.

As is our custom, Year 6 visited Chrinside House yesterday afternoon, to sing carols to the residents. We went along with Mrs Weatherill, Church Warden at St. Paul's Church who talked to us and the residents about the joy of Christmas, using a Christmas cracker. We enjoyed talking to the residents…
