In Year 6, we have started our new Computing unit: iNetwork! In the first session, we learned how the term 'networked' means connected and thought of examples of networks from everyday life. We thought of electricity networks, the London Underground tube station, and devices connected to servers within schools etc.
We learned how devices need to connect to a network switch in order to become a part of the network and created models of these before sending messages to other devices using specific numbers for each. The switch's job was to decipher the messages and work out who they were going to be passed onto. Our switches did well despite the increasing pressure as more and more messages were sent and received- we can see how networks can fail if they become overloaded at times!
