Year 6 loved learning about microorganisms in Science- who says that Playdoh is only for KS1?! We created models of different types of bacteria, fungi and viruses thinking carefully about the shapes and sizes in relation to each other. We also conducted an experiment into how yeast causes dough to rise and how sugar can speed up this process... It turns out that yeast is a rather gassy little fungus and creates more gases the more it feeds (on sugars) causing trapped air bubbles to stretch the dough. We also learned that yeast produces acids too, which change the taste of the dough.

Well done Year 6!
