On Thursday 7th November, Year 6 visited Clitheroe Castle to learn more about World War 1 and the importance of remembrance. We looked at a special tin, given to each soldier by Princess Mary as a Christmas gift in December 2014. This particular tin was found in no-man's land and contained a number of photos, obviously special to its owner. No-one knows who it actually belonged to, but we shared some ideas about whoi he might have been and how he might have felt about going to war. We developed our ideas into lines of poetry. We also made a poppy wreath and took part in an army drill led by a rather strict sergeant! He also told us about everything we would need to take with us into the front line trenches.
