We have started out new topic - The Magnificent Maya!  Today we thought about what we already know about the Maya.  We came up with lots of enquiry questions that we want to find out about during our topic.

As historians, we know we need to use evidence to find out about the past.  We used some images from Maya buildings to see what they could tell us about the Maya.  We wrote down what we could see (e.g. large, old buildings covered in moss; thick forests overgrowing the buildings; stone steps etc), what this told us (e.g. the Maya must have been very organised; they must have had tools; they seem to have deserted their cities) and what we still needed to find out (e.g. when they lived in these cities; how they built them; how did they survive in the rainforest etc).

We are really looking forward to finding out if our ideas about the Maya are correct.  We will be using different historical sources over the next few weeks.  We'll let you know what we find out!
