What an amazing day we have had at Williamson Park. First we visited the Butterfly House where we learnt all about different animals that thrive in a rainforest environment. It was very warm and humid! We were able to meet a tortoise, a turtle and a cockroach. As you can see from our faces we had mixed feelings about touching the different animals! The butterflies were very keen on anything red and even settled on some of our clothes.

After this, we went into the woodlands and had a mini beast hunt. We found loads of animals as we overturned logs and dug in the mud.  It was great! Just before we had our lunch we watched Milo, our guide, feed the meerkats. After a very welcome lunch, we went to the Friends’ Garden and had a scavenger hunt for natural things linked to different texture adjectives like rough and bright.

Some of us had never been to Williamson Park before and we all agreed we’d love to come back. It was quite a walk to and from school but definitely worth the effort.  The sun even shone for us, hurrah!
