Food and Nutrition lessons

This afternoon we welcomed Mr Needham into Year 6 for the first of our sessions on nutrition and healthy eating. We had a general overview of what makes a balanced diet and got to sample some fruit and vegetables that contain a large proportion of water.

Practise makes perfect!

We have been practising hard (at school and at home) on our ukeleles and, so far, have learnt the chords of C and F.  Next week we will go on to the chord of G and then we will be able to play loads of songs!!  Have a listen to see how we're getting on.

Sharing The Enormous Turnip with our buddies

Year 1, who have been busy writing alternative versions of The EnormousTurnip in their literacy lessons this week, came up to share them with their Year 6 buddies this morning. In return, Year 6 read the same story to Year 1 - but in French!

We had written our own version of ‘The Enormous Turnip’ for example ‘The Mega Carrot’. We read them to our buddies. The Year 6’s also read ‘ The Enormous Turnip’ to us but in French !!

This year’s Shakespeare’s play is revealed!

After much discussion and anticipation, this year’s Shakespeare play was finally revealed today. We began by acting out what life might have been like on a ship sailing the Mediterranean when a storm suddenly began to overwhelm it, casting the crew and passengers onto a seemingly deserted island.

Which material is the best for muffling sound?

Today we have been testing different materials to see which one was the best at blocking sounds from reaching our ears. We set up an experiment, carried it out, recorded our results and wrote a conclusion to answer our enquiry question.
