We retold the story of Jack and the Beanstalk by taking the different characters and changing our voices. We discussed the characters, setting and the events. 

We were very lucky to have Julia Donaldson read a traditional tale as part of our literacy topic this week. We also had an illustration masterclass from the famous illustrator, Axel Scheffler.

We finished our information texts all about wolves today.  We included a lot of great facts in them.  Here we are reading and evaluating each other’s work.

In literacy today we used a technique called ‘hotseating’ to find out more about the characters in our story.  The person in the hotseat today was a wolf from the pack.  They had to think carefully about how they felt on their long, dangerous journey and explain their feelings when they realised…

We have been reading the story of Little Red Hen in our English. We discussed where the ingredients come from and we had a go at making our own bread. We looked at the skills of sifting, mixing and kneading. 

This week we have been working hard to learn our fabulous story ‘The Way Home For Wolf’ off by heart.  Here we are retelling the story in our own words.

More cutting and sticking fun in Y2 today!

We have been investigating instructions in literacy and here we are cutting out and sticking a set into our books.  

We have been learning all about instructions in literacy recently.  Today we thought carefully about how to make jam on toast.  First we had to use very specific language to tell Mrs Cross what to do.  We then had a go at making jam on toast ourselves before finally writing up what we had learnt.…

We have loved reenacting the Traction Man book this week. We have escaped the ‘evil cushions’ and delved into the ‘soapy waters’ to escape the ‘poisonous dishcloth!’ We have enjoyed making up our own adventures too.
