Year 1 learning about Baptism
Miss Siddle came in and talked us through a church Baptism. We discussed why the vicar puts a sign of the cross on the baby’s head.
Y1 Colour mixing
We have been looking at the artist Pier Mondrian and looking at his use of primary colours. We have been recreating digital pictures on the computers. We used Mondrian's primary colours to explore the secondary colours we could make by mixing the primary colours.
Change4life Lunchtime Club
Coach Dan has been delivering a Change4life club with different classes at Lunchtime, since Lockdown. The children have been playing games, practising their skills and keeping active throughout Lunchtime.
Y1 Orla Kiely Fashion Designer
Using inspiration from Orla Kiely, we made our own designs. Firstly, by drawIng the pattern and then using the printing block and paint.
Y1 Printing Block
We have been looking at the designer Orla Kiely. Using her design, we made our own printing block to create our own designs.
Y1 Making Music
We discussed rhythm and the pulse of the music. We enjoyed using and naming all of the instruments and finding out the different sounds we could make.
Cricket
Steve came in to promote All Stars cricket clubs with the Y1,Y2 and Y3 children. They practised throwing, catching and striking and to work together as part of a team through the ‘spirit of cricket’.
Flower Collage
We made a collage of a plant naming each of the parts of the flower and describing their jobs.
Planting seeds
We enjoyed planting our sunflower seeds and making sure we knew what the seeds need.
Counting in 2s
We used our construction to help us count and spot patterns when counting in 2s.
Science - Year 1 Garden Walk
We went on a walk around our school to identify local flowering plants. We spotted daffodils, bluebells, crocus’ and tulips to name but a few. We also spotted some trees e.g the horse chestnut, conifer and beech. We enjoyed seeing some buds and going into our sensory garden.
