Cutting skills for our DT decoration
This afternoon, we were practising our cutting skills for when we make a decoration next week. We were very careful and trying to cut as neatly as possible.
DT -playgrounds
We enjoyed looking at the shapes we needed to use to help make our structures stronger. We designed our structures and discussed how we can join the models to make them move.
Year 5 Moving Models
Today we have used our own plans to create a moving model with a cam mechanism. We have designed a background and a foreground which compliments our moving figure. All of are ideas are based on our theme of Journeys.
Investigating Structure Strength
We spoke about which shape structures should be to be strong. They worked as a team to make a large 3D structure.
Pneumatics
This afternoon, we were trying to work out how the pneumatics worked in a moving toy that Mr Manning showed us.
Finished Musical Instruments
The moment you have all been waiting for - our finished products. We hope you are impressed.
Our Finished Product
At last our vehicles are finished. They took a lot of hard work, resilience and perseverance.
Learning about axles
Before designing our own vehicles, we had to learn how an axle works. We learnt about two different types - axles with fixed wheels and those with moving wheels. We made both before choosing which to use in our designs.
Snozzcumber packaging
Today, Year 3 were designing packaging for the snozzcumber from BFG to make them more appealing.
The Great Scotforth Bread Bake Off
Today we finished off our bread by decorating it using icing, chocolate and sweets. Our bread had to look like our designs when it was finished. Mrs Walsh and Mrs Cocker were the judges. It was their job to choose winners for 3 categories.
Congratulations to our winners
