Here we are drawing a tree.  We thought about how we know what the tree is and decided the leaves give us the best clue.

Gymnastic Sequences with the big apparatus

We enjoyed performing our sequences using some big apparatus today.

What else comes out of eggs ?

During a discussion about things that come out of eggs we had lots of interesting answers. Children remembered that spiders, chocolate, turtles and dinosaurs come out of eggs. We asked Mrs Dowson could we borrow her to use. Lola didn’t lay any eggs, but she did walk all over her raspberries!

Wassily Kandinsky

This afternoon, we were learning about the abstract artist Wassily Kandinsky as part of our ‘pattern and colour’ Art unit. We tried to recreate a piece of his artwork - Squares with Concentric Circles.

Y6 begin athletics in PE

Year 6 have begun their unit on athletics this half term. We began by recording a baseline - measuring how good we are at jumping, running and throwing. Over the next few weeks we will improve our techniques in each of these areas.

Garden time 29-04

A big thank you to the Gardening Club particularly Mr Long, Mrs Nemeth and Mr Mellor for planting potatoes with the class. We are looking forward to watching the plants grow and then digging up the buried treasure later in the summer term.

Turning a nursery rhyme into a play

Over the last few weeks we have been reading and writing plays. We have looked at the story of ‘Robin Hood and the Chocolate Cake’ and turned it into a play script. Today, we have looked at some familiar nursery rhymes and have acted them out in groups.

Hearing stories

Mrs Todd Bryce told us the story of the “Very Hungry Caterpillar”

we used the knitted props that the soroptomists brought us. We talked about our favourite foods and what happens when you eat too much.

Y1 & Y2 Active 60 PE session at University of Cumbria

We enjoyed practicing our fundamental movement skills this afternoon. We spoke about the importance of being active each day.

Y1 Story Sack

Thank you to one of our lovely Governor, Mrs Quainoo, who organised for our Enormous Turnip Story Sack to be made and presented to us alongside some other members of the Soroptomists group. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
