First of all we learnt about different gods from the Anglo-Saxon pagan beliefs. We then acted out the story of how Christianity came to Britain from missionaries from both Ireland and Rome.

We have made lots of decorations in the last week ready for our party. We know it is the year of the tiger this year and have used lots of mark making tools to make stripes on a giant tiger. We are going to celebrate with a party when all our friends are back in Nursery.

We have been exploring the story and characters from The Highwayman. Recently we have written our own stories and speeches linked to this dramatic poem. We have edited them and presented them in neat for display. Enjoy reading them!

We are exploring different materials. We wanted to make our cuddly toys into superheroes. Each child had to feel the different materials and choose one to make a cape out of. We went up to the juniors and let our teddies fly.

Today in science we have carefully dissected a tulip to identify the main parts of a flower for reproduction. We have learned and used a lot of new vocabulary, including stigma, style, ovary, anther, filament, sepal and ovule. 

We have been learning lots of new vocabulary linked to our topic on ‘Electricity’. Today, we investigated which materials are electrical conductors and which are insulators. We found out that metals are conductors.

Our Year 5 bake off is complete. Mrs Walsh has been to judge and we have some winners.

Today we have used our plans to create our very own bread masterpieces. Each person had there own unique design. 

Tomorrow we will be decorating and finishing off our bread before Mrs Walsh comes to be our own Paul Hollywood.
