Grouping
Here we are grouping objects into sets to make counting them easier. We grouped them into 2’s, 5’s, 10’s and some of us even tried 3’s.
Grouping
Today we learnt it’s much quicker to count larger sets of objects in groups rather than one at a time.
Water Work in the Sun
We took advantage of the VERY hot weather today and decided to work with water! We weren’t just playing though - we were estimating and measuring the capacity of different containers. We even converted between litres and pints. Water work was definitely a hit!
Mathematical Sunbathing
Today was such a nice day, we decided to have a sunbathe...a maths sunbathe. We have learned about parallel and perpendicular lines this morning so we were using that knowledge whilst sunbathing!
Making Polygons
Today, we have been discussing the properties of polygons, both regular and irregular. We worked practically and made lots of different polygons using up to 10 matchsticks.
Comparing Lengths
We were using vocab such as long, longer, tall, taller, longest and tallest today to compare lengths and heights of objects. We enjoyed exploring the classroom.
Counting Stepping Stones -Outside Fun
We made different paths whilst counting in different multiples. We were counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We then jumped on the paths at different starting numbers.
Angle Adventure
Today, we have been learning outside in maths and have been angle detectives. First, we made different angles using our bodies, then we took photos of acute, obtuse and right angles in our environment. After that, we used sticks and twigs to make our own shapes and pictures and labelled each…
Woodland maths
After a full morning of SATs, Year 6 ventured into the woods this afternoon for some fresh air, exercise and maths! We worked with a partner, following and solving a trail of maths problems around the woods.
Investigating bigger numbers
We used lots of resources to make some 2 digit numbers. We used the vocab tens and ones and understood the value of numbers.
