Every day, we have been checking and recording the temperature. We have even seen -2’C, we definitely needed our coats, hats and scarves that day! 

We have been weather forecasters and finding out the weather in the UK. Some children made cameras in the making area to record the forecast too. We had other children checking the satellites and others recording the temperature.

Today, we have been finding out how static electricity is created. Using balloons, we have made our hair stand on end! We have also created enough static electricity to be able to lift pieces of paper and stick our balloon to the wall.

We have been comparing the seeds in different fruits this week in Science. We looked at size, shape, colour and number. Next lesson we will be looking at how seeds are dispersed.

Today, we have started to learn about electricity. We looked at the components that make up a simple circuit and used them to light up a bulb. We have also discussed and recorded in a Venn diagram which appliances use mains electricity and which use batteries.

Today, we have been learning about thermal insulation. We have carried out an investigation to find out which materials keep ice pops frozen for the longest time. We chose three different materials and kept one of our ice pops unwrapped as the ‘control’. We found out that bubble wrap was a great…

Today in Science we have planned and carried out our own investigations. 
Using balls as rocks we tested whether larger rocks created larger craters. 
Some of us chose to investigate whether the height the rock (ball) fell from changed the crater size. 

Year 4 went to Ripley School to complete some Science experiments.

We had a fantastic time!

We had a visit from the Life Education Van today. We found out about our wonderful bodies, keeping healthy and safe. We discussed feelings and helped Harold with a problem. We even had a visit from Harold too

We enjoyed the last bit of snow out on the playground today. We recorded the temperature at 2’C! Good job we wore our gloves. 

In Science, we have been learning about plant and animal adaptations so they are better suited to live in their habitats. To start off, we matched and then learned as many facts as possible about a selection of habitats: grasslands, ocean, polar regions, arid deserts and rainforests. We worked in…
