Year 1 Science-Sorting animal diets
We have enjoyed finding out and sorting what different animals eat. We have used the vocabulary herbivore, carnivore and omnivore. We have also thought about what we eat!
Garden time 4-3
Today we have been finding natural objects with different characteristics. Some were smooth, some bumpy, some long, some short.
Learning about Gravity
Today, we have started our unit on ‘Forces’. We have been learning about gravity and the link between mass and weight. We measured the mass of each object and then used the Newton meter to measure the amount of force acting on it.

Year 1 Science- Animal Hunt
To start our new topic, we went to discover the animals we found in our school garden. We found out that the smaller animals (insects) like damp, dark places like under the logs and rocks. We found some woodlice, a ladybird, a snail and a slug!
Making switches
Today, we have been investigating how switches work and why they are so important. We had a go at making our own switches using the knowledge from last week that metals are conductors of electricity.

Super teddies
We are exploring different materials. We wanted to make our cuddly toys into superheroes. Each child had to feel the different materials and choose one to make a cape out of. We went up to the juniors and let our teddies fly.
