Year 2 visit to church

Beginning to Measure in Y1
We went around the classroom and outside the classroom to measure objects using non standard units. We used cubes to measure !
Repeating patterns.
Our book this week is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We linked our Maths lesson and we made caterpillars using repeated patterns.
Y3 Cave Paintings
We are continuing our history topic, investigating the Stone Age, and this week made some pictures of cave art using ink washes to create the cave walls and charcoal/pastels with our own stencils to show the animals. We are really pleased with the results!
Pupil Parliament
Four children went to the Pupil Parliament meeting today and thought about sexual equality. They discussed different jobs and toys that can be advertised for specific genders. It was really interesting and thought provoking.
Busy morning in Y3!
This morning we did some cave art (see other blog), some spelling practice, some history (investigating the work of archaeologists) and even some practical maths measuring mass. And that was all before break time! Phew! Well done Year 3!
Axle making
This afternoon, we were investigating axles to make a moving vehicle with junk modelling materials.
St George’s Day
As St George is the patron saint of the Scouting organisation, the children were invited to wear their Scout, Cub or Squirrel uniform. They looked very smart!
A living timeline of Lancaster’s history
Year 6 ventured down to the field for our history lesson this morning. We wanted to create a timeline showing the development of the city of Lancaster, from its Roman origins to the twentieth century. Our timeline was far too long to fit into the classroom, but we had plenty of room on the field.…
Tenths on a number line
Today, we have been learning about tenths on a number line in maths. Rulers show this really well. We have used rulers to measure lines and write the lengths in decimals. Each millimetre is a tenth of a centimetre. We drew pictures with our rulers using lengths written in decimals.
CancerCare Assembly
Lisa, from CancerCare, joined us on Wednesday and talked about how CancerCare support people of all ages. We presented her with a cheque of over £700 from the fundraising events organised by the School Council.
