We made plasticine reliefs of our faces in art this week.  Do you think they look like us?

Following our work on the artist Arcimboldo, we used real fruit to make fruit faces. 

We have been discussing the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. We have been looking at his work and recreating it. Then we had fun making our own ! 

We have been using paint to make our self portrait. We have been discussing the different hair colour, eye colour and skin colour that people have and that we are all unique. We mixed the paint to achieve the right colours.

Take a look at our beautiful poppies. We created them using watercolours, collage, paint and pattern. The poppies will be displayed in Marketgate Shopping in the coming weeks, so keep your eyes open and see if you can spot our art around town.

Year 4 went to Dorrington Road woods today to complete some outdoor learning. We had a really interesting Art lesson about Cubism. We looked at some cubist pictures by famous artists then we created our own masterpieces. We had to draw a leaf using pastels and then colour it in a Cubist…

We have been looking at portraits drawn by various famous artists. We have enjoyed making our own portraits using natural materials too. 
 

Year 4 chose England as their Commonwealth country. We picked the North West artist L.S.Lowry and made matchstalk men, women, children, cats and dogs.

Year 4 have moved on with their Gaudi topic. The children have made animal collages using his Trencadis technique.

We’ve also been working hard on our exhibit for the Art exhibition but that’s a secret for now!

Today in Year 5 we took advantage of the lovely weather to take our sketchbooks outside and look for patterns in nature. Using sketching pencils we drew detailed pictures of leaves, flowers, trees and stones.
